These products are high-performance 850nm VCSELs (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers) designed for high-speed data communications and packaged with a custom designed power monitor diode. The power monitor diode can be used with appropriate feedback control circuitry to set a maximum power level for the VCSEL. These combined features simplify design for high data rate communication and eye safety. These products are high radiance VCSELs designed to convert electrical current into optical power that can be used in fiber optic communications and other applications. As the current varies above threshold, the light intensity increases proportionally.

The photoreceiver module FT-RV2022(A) is a single ended front-end with a high gain of typically 500 V/W and a bandwidth of 33 GHz. The photoreceiver module FT-RV2022(A) contains a waveguide-integrated PIN-photodiode (PD) and a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with limiting output buffer. An integrated feedback loop optimizes the performance in the frequency and/or time domain with respect to different optical input power. Due to the limiting output buffer the output voltage swing is limited to approx. 400 msV. Incorporated blocking capacitors enable AC output coupling.

The coherent photodetector device consists of an integrated polarization beam splitter and four balanced photodiodes pairs, monolithically integrated with optical 90° hybrids. The photodetector is fully differential, optical front-end suited for up to 64 GBaud polarization diversity x-QAM measurement applications, and features a high common mode rejection ratio. The optical 90° hybrids demodulate the I/Q incident signal for each respective polarization state utilizing external reference oscillator laser sources.

The FT-DV2120 is a compact module that is based on a modified uni-travelling carrier (MUTC) photodetector chip. The FT-DV2120 is not matched to 50Ω. For applying a bias voltage of -6V, an external bias-Tee is required. It has a responsivity of 0.55 A/W (1550 nm) and a high saturation photocurrent of 150 mA @ 10 GHz. The Ultra-high power PD is capable of delivering ≥ 22 dBm RF output power @ 10 GHz. The device exhibits a high linearity with typical OIP3 values above 30 dBm at a frequency of 10 GHz.

F-tone Networks’s CPRV2b22A Integrated Coherent Receiver combines polarization beam splitting optics for the signal and local oscillator inputs, two matched optical 90° hybrids with monolithically integrated balanced photodetectors, and four linear trans-impedance amplifiers (TIAs) with differential outputs in a compact surface-mount package. At the signal input there is a monitor photodiode for input signal monitoring, as well as a variable optical attenuator (VOA). The receiver is available in both C- and L-band versions.
The device separates the incoming signal in X and Y polarization channels. Optical 90° hybrids subsequently demodulate the incident signal for each polarization into its in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) phase channels, relative to an external local oscillator laser source. The phase channels are converted to electrical signals by pairs of balanced photodetectors that are monolithically integrated with the optical 90° hybrids, and subsequently amplified by linear trans-impedance amplifiers (TIAs). The TIAs feature integrated peak detectors and support both manual and automatic gain control.

The FT-D3180-103 use a high-performance GaAs PIN photo-detector packaged with a transimpedance amplifier designed to meet performance requirements for data rates up to 2.5Gbps data communication over multi-mode optical fiber at 850nm. Applications include Ethernet, Fiber Channel and ATM protocols. The optical assembly is designed to interface either 50µm or 62.5µm multi-mode fiber.
